Discover Prompts Overview
The Discover Prompts page at /research helps you find new AI search queries to add to your tracking list. Rather than guessing what potential customers ask AI tools, Surva.ai surfaces real queries using four distinct discovery methods - all based on your brand context and competitor data.
Why Prompt Discovery Matters
The prompts you track determine the AI visibility data you see. If you only track obvious branded keywords, you miss all the category, comparison, and problem-focused queries where competitors are being recommended to your potential customers. Discovery finds those blind spots automatically.
Four Discovery Sources
1. Competitor Prompts
Queries where your tracked competitors are already being mentioned in AI responses, but you are not currently tracking those keywords. These are the highest-priority discoveries because they represent AI conversations happening right now in your category that you are missing entirely.
Select Competitor Prompts from the filter bar. The list shows the keyword, which competitor appears in AI responses for it, which AI platforms detected the mention, and estimated monthly search volume. Add any relevant prompt to your tracking list with one click.
2. Related Questions
Follow-up questions and variations that Surva.ai discovers during your existing AI scans. When AI platforms respond to your tracked prompts, they often surface or reference related questions. Surva.ai captures these and presents them as candidates to track.
Click Aggregate Questions to run a fresh collection sweep across your current scan data. New questions populate in the list ready to review and add.
3. Industry Templates
Pre-built prompt patterns for common business verticals. Select your vertical from the dropdown to browse template-generated suggestions - these are formatted as real queries users type into AI tools (for example, "best [category] tools for [use case]" or "[problem] solution for [industry]"). Templates help you identify query formats you may not have considered.
4. AI-Generated Suggestions
Surva.ai uses your brand context - your domain, description, target audience, and existing prompts - to generate new prompt ideas via AI. Click Generate Prompts to trigger a fresh batch tailored to your brand. You can generate up to the limit shown and refresh for different suggestions each time.
Adding Prompts to Tracking
Every prompt suggestion shows a Track button. Click it to add the prompt to your active tracking list immediately. The prompt enters the scan queue and will be checked on your plan's schedule (every 2 days on Starter and Growth, daily on Business).
You can also bulk-add: check multiple prompts and use Add Selected to track them all at once.
Filtering and Sorting
Use the filter controls to narrow discovery results to what matters most:
- Source - Filter by Competitor Prompts, Related Questions, Templates, or show All
- Min volume - Only show prompts above a minimum monthly search volume
- Platform - Filter by which AI platform the competitor mention was detected on
- Show tracked - Toggle to include prompts you are already tracking (hidden by default to surface net-new opportunities)
- Limit - Control how many results to display at once
Volume and Commercial Value
Each discovered prompt shows Google monthly search volume and CPC where available. Higher CPC indicates more commercial intent - advertisers pay more for those keywords because users searching them are closer to buying. Prioritize prompts where a competitor is mentioned, search volume is meaningful, and you are not currently tracking the keyword.
Discovery Credits
AI-generated prompt suggestions consume discovery credits from your plan allowance. Competitor-based and related-question discovery does not use credits. Your remaining credit balance is shown at the top of the Discover Prompts page.
