Understanding Prompt Metrics
Each prompt row in the AI Visibility > Prompts table shows several visual indicators and numeric values. Understanding exactly what each metric means helps you prioritize which prompts to focus on and spot opportunities at a glance without opening individual detail pages.
Your Visibility (Circular Progress Ring)
The first visual column shows a circular progress ring representing the percentage of AI platforms that mention your brand for this prompt. The ring fills based on your visibility percentage and changes color based on how strong your presence is:
- Green - 50% or more of tracked platforms mention your brand (strong presence)
- Yellow - 25% or more but less than 50% (partial presence)
- Orange - at least one platform mentions you but less than 25% (weak presence)
- Gray - no platforms mention your brand for this prompt (no presence)
The percentage shown inside the ring is calculated as: (number of platforms that mentioned you / total number of platforms scanned) x 100. Surva.ai scans up to 5 platforms: Google AI Overview, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini. If your brand appears in 3 out of 5 responses, the ring shows 60% in green.
Hot Badge
A red "Hot" badge appears next to the prompt text when the trend score for this query is 70 or above. Hot prompts are experiencing strong or surging search interest - these represent time-sensitive opportunities where early AI visibility can translate to a significant advantage over competitors who have not yet created content.
Trend Bars
The Trend column shows 5 vertical bars visualizing search interest momentum for this prompt, similar to the bars in Google Trends. More bars filled in indicates higher current trend activity. The bars represent relative search interest, not absolute volume - a query with 500 monthly searches can show 5 full bars if its trend is at a peak, while a query with 10,000 searches could show fewer bars if interest is flat or declining. Use the numeric Trend Score (0-100) in the detail page for a precise value.
Engine Icons
The Engines column shows icons for each AI platform that returned a response for this prompt. The icons appear in this order from left to right: Google AI Overview, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini. Platforms with responses show their colored icon; platforms without a response show a grayed-out icon. This lets you instantly see your cross-platform coverage without opening the detail page.
Opportunity Score Bars
The Opportunity column shows 5 bars representing the potential value of improving visibility for this prompt. The bars are color-coded:
- Green bars - high opportunity score (60 or above): this prompt has strong potential, either from high search volume, commercial intent, or a large number of platforms where you are missing
- Amber bars - moderate opportunity score (20-59): worth tracking and monitoring but not the highest priority
- Gray bars - low opportunity score (below 20): low priority
Opportunity score is highest for prompts where you have no AI visibility, search volume is high, and multiple competitors appear. Prompts where you already appear on most platforms score lower on opportunity even if their search volume is high.
Competitor Favicons
The Competitors column shows favicon icons of up to 4 competitor brands mentioned in AI responses for this prompt. If more than 4 competitors appear, the last icon shows a "+N" count. Hover over any favicon to see the brand name. This column helps you quickly identify which prompts have the most competitive AI activity without opening the detail page.
Search Volume
Monthly Google search volume for this query. Updated monthly from DataForSEO. Higher search volume means more users are asking this question, making AI visibility more valuable. A prompt with 10,000 monthly searches where your brand is missing from AI responses represents a larger opportunity than a prompt with 200 searches where you are also missing.
CPC (Cost Per Click)
The average cost per click for this keyword in Google Ads. CPC is a proxy for commercial intent - advertisers only bid high on keywords that convert to sales. A high CPC (over $5-10 for most industries) means this query has proven commercial value. When you also have AI visibility gaps on high-CPC prompts, the business impact of those gaps is proportionally larger.
Trend Score
A numeric score from 0 to 100 based on Google Trends data reflecting the current search interest trajectory for this query:
- 0-29 - stable or declining interest
- 30-59 - moderate growth
- 60-69 - strong growth
- 70+ - surging / breakout topic (triggers Hot badge on the prompt row)
Trend score reflects momentum, not absolute volume. A niche query with 500 monthly searches can score 90 if it is growing rapidly, while a broad query with 50,000 monthly searches might score 20 if interest is flat.
Using Metrics for Prioritization
Combine these metrics to identify your highest-priority actions:
- Gray ring + high CPC = high-value visibility gap. Create content immediately.
- Gray ring + Hot badge = emerging opportunity. Act fast before competitors do.
- Orange ring + multiple competitor favicons = competitive battleground. Study competitor content to understand what is working for them.
- Green ring across all engines = defend and maintain. Make sure your cited pages stay fresh.
- High opportunity bars + no visibility = the system has flagged this as a high-impact gap. Prioritize closing it.
